The Solution Bib
Ocean and San began in 2021 with the launch of our flagship product, The All Day Shirt. Upon launching our shirts we had no intention of releasing bib shorts. Our shirts were a solution to a problem. We wanted something that looked casual, but had the performance of our typical cycling jersey. We won’t bore you with the whole story, hopefully you know it by now.
We had no initial urge to design a bib short, because, in all honesty, we didn’t have any problem with the way bibs were constructed. There are plenty of great bib shorts out there. What bothered us is the way they were being marketed to us.
Take a look around – race bibs, training bibs, adventure bibs, team bibs, pro bibs, essential bibs, core bibs… the list goes on. The entire product category has become oversaturated with catering to every facet of cycling. Not only is it confusing, but there’s often no immediately clear difference between each bib, besides of course their price. Is the Pro Bib nicer than the Team Bib? You’d assume so if the pros wear it… but who’s the team? Not pros?
The bib short market is confusing, and for such an expensive product, it needs to be simple. Most of us can't afford a pair of bibs for every day of the week, every type of ride or every temperature we might encounter.
13 months ago we found a problem - not with the product, but with the entire product category and the way that bibs were being sold to us. So finally, after a lot of research, design, and testing, here is our Solution.
One pair of bib shorts, perfected. Train in them, race in them, adventure in them. They can be your essential bibs, your daily bibs, your road bibs, your gravel bibs or your pro bibs. These are our Solution Bibs.
